INERGEN® gaseous fire suppression systems are usually specified by the Naval Armed Forces to protect sensitive areas within fighting ships that are classified as “Non Immediate Evacuation” areas such as Command Centres and Communication Rooms.

INERGEN® is unique. No other inert gas has the unique ability to rapidly extinguish a fire yet at the same time provide a safe environment for any person within the occupied area by actually decreasing cardiac distress and maintaining arterial blood oxygenation and mental performance in low oxygen levels.

Equally important, unlike some chemical gaseous fire suppression agents, INERGEN® does not, and could never create a reaction with a fire to create extremely harmful toxic or corrosive by-products

INERGEN® is a mixture of 52% Nitrogen, 40% Argon and 8% CO2. However, in the event of a fire, when INERGEN® is discharged, it mixes with the air present in the room to create a mixture that comprises of 67.3% Nitrogen, 12.5% Oxygen, 17% Argon and 3.2% Carbon Dioxide.

TYPES OF INERGEN® SYSTEM


There are three types of INERGEN® system available, subject to the type of fire risk involved.

INERGEN® Premier systems are ideally suited for large multiple area protection
  INERGEN® Premier is a 300 bar inert gaseous fire suppression system ideally suited for “Multiple Area Protection” within strategic areas of Naval fighting vessels. It is a highly cost effective method of protection for any number of “at risks” continually staffed rooms from a single central cylinder bank. The cylinder bank can be located up to 100 metres away from the protected rooms.

// Comprises of addressable loop powered ionization and optical smoke detectors, manual break glass units, visual status units, electronic bells and sounder/strobe units, shutdown and interface facilities
// Field detection equipment is cabled to an INERGEN® Premier BS 7273 extinguishant control panel located adjacent to the main entrance to the risk area
// Control panel provides a continual status report of all the fire protection devices throughout the “Multiple Areas of Protection” and pinpoints the exact location of a potential system fault or fire situation
INERGEN® Conventional systems are recommended for medium sized risk areas
  INERGEN® Conventional 300 bar inert gaseous fire suppression systems are ideally suited for medium sized “Operational Critical Areas” of protection” within Naval fighting ships. It is controlled by a Conventional fire detection and alarm system specifically designed and dedicated for gas release.

For small “Business Critical” areas, Tyco Marine Services have developed an extremely cost effective INERGEN® Direct Orifice System.
  This type of system has been specifically designed for very small “Operational Critical Areas” that are continually staffed by military personnel. Mechanical design modifications to the manifold distribution system make it an extremely cost effective method of protecting valuable sensitive electrical equipment.
